Favorite Elephant in the Room

…Babar, King of the Whines (Elephant Table Lamp, available here)….

I have one sibling, a sister, the lovely Thimbleberry.  I used to be the older sister, the one with the job, just rolling in the dough – the sugar sister, if you will.  Alas, now I am but a poor (read: starving…do you know how expensive it is to apply for residency and take USMLE Boards?!) student, and my younger sister is the one in a position to spoil me, boasting killer employment.

For my last two birthdays, she did so spoil me, giving me two gifts to celebrate our mutual love of the pulchritudinous pachyderm (a love inspired by the old – and wonderfully charming – character Babar, whose books we read and show we watched incessantly as toddlers).  She bestowed upon me this lamp – a lamp I had coveted (COVETED…forgive me, Lord) for over a year.  And now every evening (or very early morning) when I turn it on, I think of snuggling on an old red corduroy sectional (aah, the early 80’s) with Thimbleberry, waiting for stupid Maya the Bee to end so we could watch Babar.  I LOVE this lamp.  I LOVE the second elephant-themed gift (which I’ll feature next week).  And, I LOVE (LOOOOOOVE) my little sister.

SO lucky – I love the spoiling, though I’ll gladly take the love sans the spoil. 😉 And isn’t he darling?!

From one group of Elephant lovers to another, charming post! (and of course, hooray for sisters!) In lieu of your coming to India to visit us and our pachyderm residents here’s one of our many posts about elephants. (In this case the African side of the family…) Enjoy!
